Good independent rock from North Carolina. They're talented
guys, very proficient players for sure, but they're a little
caught up in the "Nickelback" and North American rock
sound. In other words, they are a bit too serious for their
own good. They sound a bit like the 80's bands who have been
putting out albums, the music lacks that youthful enthusiasm.
Songs like "Step Out Of Line" show they have the ability
to rock out, and "In Time" has some nice hooks, but
many songs are just mid-tempo rock songs that need a little
"kick" to them. And I believe they have the ability,
vocals are quite melodic, but the music seems a little too dark
at times. I'm not trying to turn them into an AOR band, but
perhaps they could just pick things up a little. If you like
the groove oriented American Rock, you're going to like these
guys a lot, but if you're into the Euro-scene you might be a
little bored with Spank.
