NASHVILLE PUSSY - "From Hell To Texas" - 2009 - SPV

Rude, lude and crude. Nashville Pussy has become an underground favorite with their "fuck you" attitude and garage rock sound. To me the sound is a lot more universal than they are. It's about as strait-up rock as you can get, with elements of classic rock mixed with some modern aggression. There is nothing fancy about this band, unless you think having 2 chicks in the band is just to get attention. If you do think that you're stupid, and even if that were the case, they're pretty fucking smart in my book!

Bottom line is that Ruyter Suys' guitar-work stands up with the guys any day. It's not her solos or how fast she plays, it's the style and old-school approach she takes. It's the same with Blaine Cartwright's vocals. There's very little melody or even "singing" in the traditional sense, but he has "style" that's just pours out sweat and sleaze.

"From Hell To Texas" is another ass-kicking chapter for the band. It has a consistent Western theme that makes it sound like the albums of the 60's and 70's. It was recorded on tape, so if you're listening to it on shitty computer speakers you are NOT going to get the full sound. You need a big system where you can really crank the fucker up. It literally sounds better the louder it gets. I should mention if you are looking for a flawlessly produced and clean sounding album, you're not going to get it here. You will get a real soundling album that sounds live, just without the crowd noise.

If you have yet to discover the band, you need to finally get on board and check out Nashville Pussy. I don't give a shit what you're into, Rock, Metal or God forbid new Country, you'll get a kick out of the band because they'll kick your ass!
