LION'S SHARE- "Dark Hours" -Blistering Records - 2009

WOW, Lion's Share have really pulled out all the stops on their latest album and delivered the goods with a heavy slab of molten metal! I missed their last release ("EMOTIONAL COMA"- 2007) but this is much darker than the last album I heard from them (2001's "ENTRANCE") So, it seems the title and heavier theme has a purpose as the songs are all about things that happened in the latter 1960's. Interesting concept for sure.

I can't help but compliment the vocals of Patrik Johansson. The similarity between him and Ronnie James Dio is eerie at times yet he does much more to prove this is no copy-cat performance. The music just keeps coming from all angles and never lets up in what seems to be a perfect balance between melody and heaviness. Lion's Share are not one of those one-trick-pony bands playing the same thing for 10 straight songs. DARK HOURS mixes old-school traditional metal with a great, modern-day punch...all solidified by some really slick, classy guitar playing from Lars Chriss. Easily one of the best albums I've heard in a long time.
