DEATH ON TWO WHEELS - "Separation Of Church & Fate"

When I put this one in I decided to limit my research on the band and read what others said about them. Partly because I'm feeling lazy, but partly because they're very intriging and I am imagining that they're getting some diverse reviews depending on the background of the person writing it. My FIRST impressions where that they somehow blended Southern and Brit Rock together. Since they come from Atlanta, the Southern Rock part would make sense, but that's a bit presumptuous. Just because you're from the South doesn't mean you HAVE to do Southern Rock, hell, I'm from the Northern plains and I hate Polka music, so the regional thing is bullshit. Having said that they do have a bit of the Southern Rock swagger, but it seems to be more of a strait up R'nRoll influence.

Vocalist Trae Vedder's voice is simply amazing, he bleeds rock, and sometimes when listening you wish the songs were even heavier to compliment his range and attitude. The music is actually quite trippy and venture into the "Stoner Rock" genre at times. They lace the tunes with infectious melody too, and some tracks even remind one of the old AM radio days of the 70's. So, putting a label on this band is nearly impossible as they really run the gamut of sounds from blues to rock to indie to stoner to psychedelic. If I have to compare them to bands, I suppose "Jet" or "Black Rebel Motorcycle Club" would be the closest I can come up with as far as modern bands. They're just Rock N' Roll when you break it down, they are keeping the past alive by keeping everything relatively simple and just writing great songs and playing with their heart and soul.
