The
wait was well worth it. This film was more twisted than ever imagined.
Zombie captured the 70's exploitation films by combining elements of "Texas
Chainsaw Massacre", "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Motel
Hell" with the the sick feeling you get from "Last House On
The Left". Having said that, this film is much more slick than those
films as Zombie had more of a budget and a more twisted imagination than
those films. Yes, some of it does seem like an extended music video, but
what else would you expect?
Zombie's
use of B-Movie greats like Karen Black and Sid Haig was brilliant. This
truly was a film for the die hard horror fans. He slips in numerous classic
horror tricks that require multiple viewings to catch everything.
Where
"House" will fall in the Horror history books is unknown as
it's too early to tell. I do have a feeling this will influence the Horror
genre into the new Millenium and we may again see the boundaries pushed
far beyond what we've every seen before.
