She is probably the most well known of the Seduction Cinema’s actresses who has now moved up one step further into directing. You have become very popular in your movies. Do you find that you are being recognized on the street at all? Does it bug you?
Honestly, I’ve never been
recognized in the streets or outside of any
conventions or fan
shows. It doesn’t surprise me though. When I’m
not shooting movies or
for magazines, I’m usually wearing my glasses and jeans and a tee shirt.
I’m sure students at my University would NEVER suspect that I’m a
soft-core porn star, I’m usually the intellectual overachiever who always
has her homework done, so even if they have seen any of my flics they
wouldn’t recognize me. It’s really difficult, actually. Right now I can’t put anything before school, not even my movie career. It’s hard to prioritize because it’s all very important to me. I’m just a real busy girl lately. You are making your directorial debut soon. Was it something you have always wanted to do or did you just naturally fall into it? Of course it’s always something I’ve wanted to do, but I haven’t pursued it. My relationships and positions within The Seduction Cinema crew had unexpectedly evolved into this new responsibility, and I really appreciate it, too. It’s extremely important, I think, to have a feminine perspective on the creative end of these films. Male directors tend to overlook a lot of things, I think, that could honestly make or break a film. I hope I’m not sounding arrogant, because I admit that there are many things I still need to learn about producing and directing a feature length film, technically, artistically, everything. But, I’m pretty confident that in time I would have mastered the elements of making a kick-ass independent movie. Do you find it easier to direct actors since that's how you first started out so you can relate to them better? Oh yeah, absolutely. I think that is my prevailing attribute when it comes to directing. It’s difficult to direct camera and critique lighting for scenes when I’m telling a bunch of guys who have been working in corporate video as well as the film industry for 10 plus years, that the shot they’ve got is not to my liking. I think that I deliver and therefor the actresses receive direction from me much better. How long is the average shoot? I suppose it depends. A lot of these shot on video movies we can bang out in two or three days. Playmate of the Apes was practically two weeks, with consecutive 10-hour days sometimes. Do you see yourself getting into main stream? It doesn’t seem likely, so it’s not something I’m consciously striving for, I mean I’m pretty content where I am. Of course if any opportunities like that came along, I’d be ecstatic to accept them. We’ll see! Is there a favorite movie that you have done, or do you like them all pretty much the same and why? Last summer I was shooting a movie called Psycho Bitch from Hell, with Directors Terry West and Tina Krause, and that’s probably the one that stands out as a super-cool production. For the first time in a while, I wasn’t type casted. I actually play this dirt-ass biker bitch with uncontrollable homicidal tendencies. It was a stretch from my usual role, and I appreciate the opportunity to portray something a little different, a little more challenging. What's the funniest thing that has ever happened to you on the set? I was shooting this wacky bondage-type kidnapping fetish video with Factory 2000 and director Bill Hellfire had me tied up at the wrists and ankles, stuffing me into the trunk of his car, while cameraperson Joey Smack is pointing a camcorder at me. It was back in these woods by our houses, and out of nowhere the mother of my best friend from high school rides up on her mountain bike. I’m whispering in a hysterical manner, “Shut the trunk, shut the fucking trunk!” It was the first and hopefully the last time I ever have to beg to be locked into the trunk of a car. But Bill was slightly distracted by the whole matter and didn’t close me in in time, so I simply had to face her whilst lying in the trunk of Bill’s car with a blindfold around my neck and ropes around my hands and feet. “Oh, hey Hi. Yeah, yeah I’m fine were just, ya know, shootin’ a little movie, ya know how it is.” Devastating. But retrospectively, pretty fucking funny. Sometimes shoots can go way long. How do you handle exhaustion? A fortified diet of caffeine and cigarettes. Any suggestions for up and coming actresses? Sure. Always stay passionate about what you’re doing. If you don’t feel like B-movies are up to par with your abilities, then don’t let anyone convince you to do it. You can pigeonhole yourself into these genres, and if it’s not where you want to be, it may be hard to break out of it. I’ve seen a few actresses come and go, really feeling exploited or disillusioned at thinking they were going to go mainstream via soft-core pornography. I’m sorry but it’s pretty unlikely that someone’s going to see your starring role (brilliant as it may have been) in Satan’s School for Sluts and cast you for the next season of Friends. I work only with directors and actresses that I like and trust, and on projects that I’ll have fun working on. If you’re doing something just for the money, it might end up being something you regret. Thanks you Misty and continued success in all your endeavors.
